Reflection on Pandora's Box

There are a variety of ways in which the Pandora's box may be opened. Though it does require a conspiracy of sorts to get the desired results.

Personally, I find the political Pandora's box to be quite fascinating.

Pandora, the Great Goddess of myth, it is said, was made by the other gods who bestowed upon her, original and unusual gifts. How true we want others like ourselves. Of course, Pandora did end up opening the box, but she did it out of ignorance. It is said that all that was left in the box, after that, was hope. Then came the lamentations of Zeus, who it is said cannot be escaped from mind.

I like the in-your-face, reality of Theognis of Megara, who said::like the in-your-face, reality of Theognis of Megara, who said::

"Hope is the only good god remaining among mankind;
the others have left and gone to Graces, my friend, have abandoned the earth.
Men’s judicial oaths are no longer to be trusted, nor does anyone
revere the immortal gods; the race of pious men has perished and
men no longer recognize the rules of conduct or acts of piety."

Truly, Hope is the only good god remaining and from time to time it bestows us with strength to endure. Lest we be overwhelmed by that swarm which shoots forth from the proverbial Pandora's box.
